Need a household chores routines that’s quick, easy, and effective? Look no further!
For the love of chores…
Doing household chores is a part of life, plain and simple. No matter what your living situation is, the place you call home requires upkeep. Having a household chores routine in place can help you maintain the organization and cleanliness of your space.
The best household chores routine is one that is effective and gives you good results. The tasks that maintain your home’s baseline cleanliness are the only ones that belong in your basic household chores routine. In other words, it should only include the tasks that you attend to on a daily basis.

The Most Effective Household Chores Routine
This is the household chores routine that I follow and find very easy to maintain. But remember — the most effective household chores routine is the one tailored to your home and sustainable for you to follow. When it comes to your own household chores routine, remember to take what works from mine and add in the things I didn’t list. We’ll talk more about that later!
In order to keep my household running smoothly, my husband and I have to attend to chores both in the morning and in the evening. When we complete all the items in this routine, we can rest assured that our house (and our lives!) are in order.
MORNING TASKS ☀️
- Open the curtains and blinds
- Empty the dish rack and dishwasher; put dishes and utensils away
- Declutter nightstands
- Make the bed
EVENING TASKS 🌙
- Wash all the dishes from the day; start the dishwasher
- Clean stovetop
- Clean countertops
- Shut the curtains and blinds (after sunset or when it gets dark)
- Vacuum main living floors (we were lucky enough to be gifted a robot vacuum that gets the job done for us!)
- Quick pickup of main living floors and replacing items where they belong
- Straighten up the living room (fold blankets, fluff pillows, etc.)
BONUS ONGOING TASK: Taking dirty dishes to the sink as needed. If you bring dishes to the sink as soon as you’re done with them, you won’t have to search the house for more before starting your dish washing session.
Now… make it your own!
As I mentioned before, the routine discussed above works well for me and my life! At this point, it’s just my husband and I, so there isn’t all that much we need to tend to on a daily basis. Use my routine as a starting point and then tweak it to make it realistic with your life. In my opinion, as long as the beds are made and the kitchen sink is empty by the end of the day, you’ll be golden.
So tell me, what does your household chores routine look like? What are the essential tasks you need to complete every day? Let me know in the comments below!
